Our History
Established in 1822 in Wood County, Virginia, named for Thomas Harris, a pioneer.
Became part of Ritchie County in 1843.
The community went by "Ritchie Court House" from 1843 until it was incorporated in 1869 by an act of the West Virginia Legislature and renamed "Harrisville" for General Thomas M. Harris, a Civil war soldier and Harrisville medical doctor.
Population: 1876 (2010 census)
Elevation: 870 feet

Council Meetings are held the second Tuesday of every month and start at 7:30 pm.
